Egalitarian Liberalism
Inequalities require justification under fair terms of social cooperation.
What it claims
Egalitarian liberalism combines equal basic liberties with demanding conditions on social and economic inequality. In Rawls’s account, parties in an original position choose behind a veil of ignorance about their class, talents, gender, generation, and conception of the good. His principles protect equal basic liberties, fair equality of opportunity, and inequalities benefiting the least advantaged through the difference principle.
