Feminist political philosophy asks which institutions and practices are included in the scrutiny of justice. Okin argues that family arrangements shape life prospects, paid work, and political voice, so excluding them as merely private leaves major sources of inequality unexamined. Young distinguishes exploitation, marginalization, powerlessness, cultural imperialism, and violence to reveal forms of oppression not exhausted by the distribution of goods.
