Terms of Service
The conditions for using this site. Payment and refund terms for the paid full report are in Articles 5 to 7.
Effective 2026-09-09 · 한국어
Article1. Purpose and definitions
These Terms govern the rights, obligations and responsibilities between the business that operates the "Philosophical Position Profiler" (the "Operator", also referred to as "we" or the "company") and anyone who uses it (the "User", "you"). The Operator's business name, representative and contact details are in Article 13.
- Service — the web service that compares your answers statistically against predefined philosophical positions, together with the position dictionary, shareable result cards and other accompanying features.
- Free results — every result screen provided without payment, including the per-section results.
- Full report — the paid digital content that combines the results of all sections with commentary. It includes the report screen and any printed or saved copy of it.
- Account — the user identity created through Google or Kakao social login.
- Payment provider — a third party that processes payments, such as KakaoPay, Toss Payments or Paddle.
Article2. Publication and amendment of the Terms
We link to these Terms from the home page and from the login and payment screens, and we display important points (the refund restriction and the limitation of liability) separately on the screens where they matter. By logging in or paying you agree to these Terms; if you do not agree, you cannot log in or pay.
We may amend these Terms within the limits of applicable law. We will post the amended Terms, the effective date and the reason on the home page at least 7 days before they take effect, and at least 30 days before for changes that are important or unfavourable to Users, in which case we will also email the address registered to your account. If you keep using the Service after the effective date without objecting, you are deemed to have accepted the amended Terms. If you do not accept them, you may delete your account.
Matters not covered by these Terms are governed by the Korean Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions, the Content Industry Promotion Act, the Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable laws and customary practice.
Article3. Accounts
- How accounts are created — there is no separate sign-up form; logging in with a Google or Kakao account creates your account. We receive only the identifier, name (nickname) and email address that the login provider gives us. Your password is never passed to us.
- Use without an account — the free results are available without logging in. Logging in is needed to continue on other devices, to buy and keep the full report, and for the peer comparison.
- Age — the Service is available only to people aged 14 or over. By logging in you confirm that you are at least 14. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 14, we will delete the account and its personal data without delay and handle any payment under Article 7.
- Account care — your account is for you alone and may not be transferred or lent. We are not liable for loss caused by a compromised Google or Kakao account unless we acted with intent or gross negligence.
- Closing your account — you may ask us to delete your account at any time through the contact in Article 14; we act without delay after verifying your identity. Deleting your account removes access to any full report stored in it; the price of a report you have already opened is not refunded.
Article4. Nature of the Service — important
This quiz is an educational and entertainment tool about philosophy. It is not a psychological assessment, medical diagnosis, or counselling service. Results indicate statistical similarity to philosophical positions and do not evaluate your mental health or personality.
Results are computed from the answers you chose using predefined weights. They are not an academically standardised or validated psychological instrument and do not measure intelligence, personality or ability.
Each position is described the way its strongest advocate would present it. No result is meant to be better than any other.
The word "profiler" (or "diagnosis" in the Korean name) means fine-grained classification of philosophical leanings; it does not mean a medical or psychological diagnosis. Do not use the results as a basis for decisions that materially affect you or others, such as hiring, evaluation, selection or treatment. If you need a judgement about mental health, consult a professional.
We provide the free results, the full report, the position dictionary, shareable result cards and the optional peer-comparison statistics. The specifics of each feature are as displayed in the Service.
Article5. Paid service — the full report
- Content — digital content that combines the results and commentary for every section, nearby and opposing positions, related thinkers and further reading in one document. The items and length included in the report are shown on the payment screen, and you can preview the format and style through the free per-section results.
- Price — for customers in Korea, KRW 990 including VAT. For international customers, the price in US dollars shown on the payment screen of the English pages applies; in that case Paddle acts as the merchant of record and handles payment and any applicable local taxes. The amount shown on the payment screen prevails, and a price change applies only to payments made after the change.
- Payment methods — KakaoPay or Toss Payments (credit/debit cards and mobile wallets) in Korea, or Paddle internationally. Payment takes place on the payment provider's own screen; card numbers and other payment details never pass through or are stored on our servers. We receive only the order number, the payment status and the type of payment method.
- Delivery — the report becomes available immediately after the payment is approved. We send the order details (product, amount, date and time, withdrawal conditions and contact) as an electronic record on the payment-complete screen and to the email address registered to your account.
- Period of use — a purchased report is kept in your account without an expiry date; you can reopen, print and save it whenever you log in. If we have to close the Service or discontinue report storage, we will give at least 30 days' notice on the home page and by email and keep the report available for saving during that period.
- Scope of use — the full report is provided for the personal use of the purchaser. Other than the personal, non-commercial sharing allowed by Article 8, you may not copy, sell or redistribute the report in whole or in substantial part.
- Payment errors — if a payment is charged twice or the report does not open after payment, contact us (Article 14) and we will refund the duplicate charge or re-deliver the report after checking.
Article6. Refund policy (right of withdrawal)
The full report is digital content delivered immediately upon payment. Under Article 17(2)(5) of the Korean E-Commerce Act, refunds are not available once the report has been opened. You can preview the format through the free per-section results before purchasing. If you have not opened the report, or if it materially differs from its description or cannot be accessed due to a technical fault, we will issue a full refund within 7 days of purchase.
- Separate consent — the payment screen shows the notice above, and payment proceeds only after you yourself tick "I understand that my right of withdrawal ends once the report is delivered". The box is never pre-ticked.
- When a refund is available — (1) you request it within 7 days of payment and have never opened the report; (2) the report materially differs from what was described or advertised on the payment screen (Article 17(3) of the same Act, within 30 days of discovering this, even after opening); (3) a technical fault on our side prevents you from accessing the report; (4) a duplicate charge.
- When a refund is not available — after you have opened the report, because you dislike the result or it differs from what you expected. The nature of the results is explained in Article 4.
- How to request — send your order number (or the email used for payment) and the reason to the contact in Article 14. We will tell you within 3 business days whether the refund is approved, and approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through the payment provider. Depending on the card issuer or wallet, it may take a further 3 to 7 business days to appear. For payments made through Paddle, Paddle processes the refund as the merchant of record; if you contact us, we will pass the request to Paddle.
- Disputes — if we cannot reach agreement on a refund, you may apply for mediation to the Korea Consumer Agency (www.kca.go.kr) or the Electronic Commerce Mediation Committee (www.ecmc.or.kr). Nothing in this Article limits the mandatory consumer-protection rights of your country of residence (Article 12).
Article7. Payments by minors
A minor (under 19 under Korean law, or the age of majority where you live) must obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian before paying. On the payment screen you confirm that you are an adult or have your guardian's consent. A payment made by a minor without such consent may be cancelled by the minor or the guardian under the Korean Civil Act; on receiving a cancellation request we will refund a payment made within the last 7 days regardless of whether the report was opened. Cancellation may be restricted under Article 17 of the Civil Act if the minor pretended to be an adult or to have consent.
Article8. Intellectual property and sharing your results
The questions, position commentary, weighting scheme, report text, result-card design and site code are the Operator's works and are protected by copyright (© the Operator). Portraits of philosophers come from Wikimedia Commons under their own terms: public-domain and CC0 images are used freely, and CC BY / CC BY-SA images are used with attribution of author, source and licence, shown under Image credits and licences at the bottom of the report. The report text is © the Operator; each portrait remains under the licence shown with it.
What you may do — you may share your own result screens and result cards on social media or elsewhere, and quote them, for personal, non-commercial purposes. Please keep the service name and the image credits shown on the card. Sharing your results does not give the Operator any additional rights in them.
What you may not do without our prior written consent
- copy, distribute or sell the questions, commentary or full report in whole or in substantial part;
- collect (scrape) the questions, commentary, scoring scheme or dictionary content by crawlers, scripts or other automated means;
- use the Service's content to build the same or a substantially similar service, a dataset, or training material for artificial intelligence;
- use the Service's name or logo in a way that suggests an affiliation with the Operator.
Article9. User obligations
- Do not send repeated requests or automated bulk traffic that burdens the servers.
- Do not attempt to access other users' accounts or to bypass or disable the Service's security measures.
- Do not manipulate the payment provider's process or seek refunds by improper means.
- Do not alter and distribute results in a way that defames others or disparages particular philosophers or groups.
- If you enter an age band or gender for the peer comparison, enter it truthfully or leave it blank. Leaving it blank does not restrict your use of the Service.
If such conduct is confirmed, we may restrict access or suspend or delete the account after giving notice (or, in urgent cases, afterwards). You may object through the contact in Article 14.
Article10. Changes to and discontinuation of the Service
We may change the questions, positions, scoring method, screen layout and other aspects of the Service to improve it. If the scoring method changes, the same answers may produce different results; a full report you have already bought is kept as it was at the time of purchase.
We may suspend or terminate all or part of the Service for maintenance, outages, circumstances at the payment provider or hosting provider, changes in law or business reasons. Planned suspensions are announced in advance on the home page, and termination of the Service or of report storage is announced at least 30 days in advance under Article 5. We do not compensate for changes to or suspension of the free service. If the paid service is discontinued for reasons on our side and you had no opportunity to save a report you bought, we will refund the amount paid.
Article11. Limitation of liability
The results of this Service are a statistical comparison of your answers against predefined philosophical positions and are reference material for educational and entertainment purposes. The company does not warrant the academic accuracy of the results or their correspondence with your actual beliefs, and is not liable for decisions you make on the basis of the results unless the company acted with intent or gross negligence.
- We do not warrant that the Service will be free of errors or interruptions. Defects in the paid service are remedied by re-delivery or refund under Articles 5 and 6.
- We are not liable for loss caused by events beyond our control, such as natural disasters, network failures or outages at the payment or hosting provider, unless we acted with intent or gross negligence.
- We are not liable for loss arising from your breach of these Terms or of the law, or for disputes between users, unless we acted with intent or gross negligence.
- This Article does not apply to loss caused by our intent or gross negligence, or to any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Article12. Governing law, jurisdiction and language
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer-protection rights under the laws of your country of residence. In case of conflict, the Korean version prevails.
Disputes are brought before the court with jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act. Before starting proceedings, please contact us (Article 14) so we can try to resolve the matter in good faith; the mediation bodies in Article 6 are also available.
The Service is operated from the Republic of Korea. We do not direct our services to the EU/UK. Prices are quoted in Korean won and US dollars only, and we do not market to or maintain localised pages for any EU member state or the United Kingdom.
This English text is a translation provided for convenience. The authoritative version is the Korean text at /이용약관.html; if the two differ in meaning, the Korean version prevails.
