Idealism
Mind or experience is fundamental, and matter is derivative.
What it claims
Metaphysical idealism gives mind or experience a fundamental role in reality. In Berkeley's classical account, sensible objects exist as perceived, without a material substratum independent of perceiving minds. He regards supposedly wholly perception-independent matter as an empty abstraction and rejects materialist ontology.
