Deflationary Theory of Truth
“Is true” serves an expressive role without adding a substantial property.
What it claims
Deflationism denies that “true” names a substantive nature such as correspondence or coherence. Its central device is the equivalence schema: “p” is true if and only if p. It opposes inflationary accounts positing a substantial relation between sentences and facts.
