Existence & Meaning of Life · The reality of the self

Anattā / No-Self

There is no fixed self, only a changing stream of the five aggregates.

What it claims

Anattā, or no-self, is one of Buddhism's three characteristics. It denies that anything is a permanent, independent self (ātman) exercising control. The target is not personhood but an underlying substance supposedly owning the person.
